In order to add some more sizzle to MLB All-Star weekend, Major League Baseball decided to move the MLB Draft to All-Star Weekend. With Los Angeles serving as the home of Midsummer Classic, some of the top amateurs in baseball will hear their names called at LA Live.
Due to exceeding the competitive balance tax threshold, the Dodgers first-round pick was moved back ten spots, from 30th overall to 40th. LA will be selecting their first player in the draft in the “competitive balance round A”.
Longtime Dodger Steve Sax represented LA at the MLB Draft, and with their first selection, the Dodgers front office selected Dalton Rushing out of Louisville.
