Mike Bolsinger gives Dodgers much-needed lift in 3-1 win over Braves

ATLANTA -- That old cliché about players needing to “step up” for an injured teammate didn’t totally apply to the Dodgers on Wednesday. Sure, they lost backup catcher A.J. Ellis to the disabled list Monday, and Brett Anderson’s ankle is bothering him. More than anything the Dodgers just needed someone to step up, beginning with their starting pitcher.

Mike Bolsinger spotted his counterpart, Atlanta Braves starter Julio Teheran, about 8 mph on his fastball and still managed to dominate for seven innings in the Dodgers’ 3-1 win.

Of course, Bolsinger never relies as much on speed as control.
