LOS ANGELES — Baseball was definitely a contact sport at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night. Just not at the plate.
The Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals combined for 33 strikeouts — including 19 by Dodgers batters, one short of matching the franchise record — and only seven hits over 13 innings. Clayton Kershaw and Lance Lynn hooked up in a pitchers’ duel that featured just one mistake by either starter — Kershaw’s wild pitch in the ninth that allowed Randal Grichuk to score from second base and keep it from being a brilliant 1-0 showdown in the Dodgers’ favor.
