Unable to solve Cubs ace Jon Lester, the Dodgers missed a chance for a series victory by dropping a 4-0 defeat on Wednesday at Wrigley Field. Lester silenced the Dodgers for seven innings and Ross Stripling took his first loss since joining the Dodgers rotation in the middle of May.
In splitting Tuesday’s doubleheader, the Dodgers went 4 for 29 with runners in scoring position and stranded 24 men. The group had fewer chances on Wednesday. Lester gave up one hit in five at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Stripling allowed three runs for the first time since April 30, when he gave up four to Arizona.
