Today the Los Angeles Dodgers officially announced the signing of relief pitcher Joe Kelly, recently a member of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, to a three-year contract worth a reported $25 million dollars guaranteed.
After a pedestrian regular-season (4.39 ERA, 100 ERA+, 4.4 BB/9, 9.3 K/9 in 65 2⁄3 innings), Kelly was torrid in post-season play striking out 13 batters in 11 1⁄3 innings – including 10 Dodgers batters in the World Series – while walking none and allowing only one earned run.
