Hyun-jin Ryu leaves game after line drive off left forearm

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu left his start against the Giants in the third inning after taking a line drive off his pitching arm. He suffered a left forearm contusion, and was taken for X-rays, which were negative.

Joe Panik hit a 94-mph liner back to the mound that deflected directly off Ryu’s pitching hand. Ryu recovered to field the ball and throw Panik out at first base, but then immediately dropped his glove and clutched his left arm.

After a long meeting on the infield with trainer Nate Lucero, pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and manager Dave Roberts, Ryu left the game.
