Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman revealed the message he gave his agents after the Atlanta Braves acquired Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson during the 2021-22 offseason.
Freeman, who hails from Southern California, had only one destination in mind following the Braves’ move for the A’s’ All-Star: “Get me home.”
“The Dodgers were in touch all along, and they understood an abject bargain awaited once the main competition was eliminated,” wrote The New York Post’s Jon Heyman. “One exec called it ‘crazy’ talks fizzled with his first choice. ‘It worked out well for everyone,’ Freeman recalled, meaning Olson, since he’s home, too.
