Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star catcher Will Smith is at risk of being healthy by the time the postseason rolls around.
A hairline fracture in his hand has led to manager Dave Roberts listing him as “doubtful” to make a regular season return as October looms.
Backstop Ben Rortvedt, acquired via a trade deadline deal for Triple-A catcher Hunter Feduccia, will be receiving “the lion’s share” of starts while Smith recovers per Roberts, with rookie catcher Dalton Rushing being available behind the dish as well.
