Veteran infielder Michael Chavis, who was in Triple-A Oklahoma City on a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has signed with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball, the team announced.
The Dodgers released Chavis from Triple-A to allow him to pursue this opportunity.
Chavis, 29, hasn’t played at the major league level since 2023 with the Washington Nationals. He’s been with the Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox and Dodgers organizations over the last few years, but hasn’t received an MLB call up.
This season at Oklahoma City, Chavis was slashing .291/.350/.547 with 13 home runs and 45 runs batted in.
