We all know now about elaborate three-team blockbuster that sent Hector Olivera to Atlanta and brought Alex Wood, Mat Latos, Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan, and the overloaded contracts of Bronson Arroyo and Michael Morse to LA. Morse was immediately DFA’d by the Dodgers. Arroyo, meanwhile, is on the 60-day DL for tommy john surgery and will probably never pitch an inning for the Dodgers. Andrew Freidman and Farhan Ziadi took on more dead money in Morse’s, Arroyo’s and Olivera’s contracts so they could protect the prospects they already have and add new ones such as top Braves infielder Jose Peraza, bringing even more depth to the farm system.
