Prior to the Dodgers blowing the game open with their display of power, they took the lead when Shohei Ohtani walked the bases loaded in the first inning and threw a wild pitch. After Ohtani put Will Smith on to start the second inning, Chris Taylor connected for a two-run home run.
Corey Seager extended the lead with an opposite-field homer, his eighth of the spring.
