After Kershaw’s sudden and expected leave during Thursday’s start, the Dodgers decided to add him to the 15 day IL yesterday. As a result, Ryan Pepiot is expected to fill his spot in the pitching rotation until further notice.
Since this is Kershaw’s second visit to the injured list this season due to back pain, the Dodgers want to remain extra cautious in order to bring him back before the postseason. The hope is obviously that he will be able to make it back in time.
Ryan Pepiot was drafted in 2019 and just recently made his major league debut in May.
