Right-handed pitcher Roki Sasaki spoke to reporters before the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. The rookie right-hander gave an update on his recovery from a shoulder injury he sustained in May.

Sasaki improved his mechanics and reached up to 96 mph when he threw a bullpen session on Tuesday. He said he is no longer feeling pain when he pitches but needs to ensure those mechanics remain consistent when he faces live batters.

“I feel better about being able to throw harder, especially because I’m pain-free,” Sasaki said through an interpreter.
