Dodgers Prospect Acquired in Dustin May Trade Making LA Look Like Geniuses

James Tibbs III was the 2024 ACC Player of the Year and one of the best hitters in college baseball. After the San Francisco Giants drafted the right fielder with the No. 13 overall pick in 2024, Tibbs was hoping to find that same success in his professional career.

Tibbs quickly excelled in Single-A but struggled in High-A, averaging .134 in 67 at-bats in 2024.

The Giants sent him to the Boston Red Sox as part of a package for designated hitter Rafael Devers in June. Then, the Red Sox traded him and outfielder Zach Ehrhard to the Los Angeles Dodgers for starting pitcher Dustin May.
