Dodgers Place Max Muncy on Injured List Following Scary Knee Injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers are placing third baseman Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a left knee bone bruise. Outfielder Esteury Ruiz is being called up to replace him on the active roster.

Muncy suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Wednesday’s game. White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor slid into Muncy’s knee while trying to steal third base. Muncy’s knee bent backwards and he went down in immediate pain.

After the game, Muncy underwent initial tests that led manager Dave Roberts to feel optimistic about his injury.

“A lot of the tests that they did right now, we feel optimistic,” Roberts said Wednesday night.
