The Los Angeles Dodgers were one out away from Yoshinobu Yamamoto achieving a no-hitter, and ended up losing, 4-3, in walk-off fashion (again) to the Baltimore Orioles. LA fell to 78-64 on the year and lost their fifth game in a row.
Ahead of the eventual heartbreaker, the Dodgers called up a catcher as they unfortunately placed rookie backstop Dalton Rushing on the injured list. The lack of depth in the catcher position is starting to get to a more dire place, and the timing couldn’t be worse with October right around the corner.
Speaking of the depth issue, All-Star catcher Will Smith has a bone bruise that he will likely deal with for the remainder of the season.
