Dodgers Notes: Will Smith Injury, Shohei Ohtani Illness, Teoscar Hernandez Called Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 3-0, on Wednesday and fell to 78-61 on the year. They will look to avoid the sweep on Thursday with southpaw Blake Snell on the mound against MLB’s current ERA leader, right-hander Paul Skenes.

To make matters worse, All-Star catcher Will Smith suffered a hand injury during Wednesday’s loss. A foul ball ricochetted directly onto his right hand, resting on the side of his leg during the incident.

Additionally, Shohei Ohtani was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday due to an illness. Manager Dave Roberts spoke on why Ohtani was still batting against Pittsburgh, but was swapped for Emmet Sheehan on the bump.
