Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith had a positive day on Monday, facing live pitching for the first time since Sept. 9.
If Smith doesn’t suffer a setback on Tuesday, it sounds like there’s a real chance he could make the Dodgers’ Wild Card roster, with LA likely carrying three catchers in case they need more insurance behind Smith.
“If he can get through today and feel good, then it’s a viable thought,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Smith making the roster.
In other news, the Dodgers revealed 23-year-old right-hander Roki Sasaki’s expected status for the Wild Card series.
