Dodgers Notes: Veteran Shockingly DFA’d, Top Prospect Called Up, Dalton Rushing Role Revealed

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Athletics, 9-3, on Wednesday as they improved to 28-15 on the season. Long balls poured down at Dodger Stadium, including Hyeseong Kim’s first-career home run in the big leagues.

Ahead of the eventual victory, longtime veteran Austin Barnes was designated for assignment. The longest-tenured Dodgers player not named Clayton Kershaw helped lift two World Series trophies in L.A. and will be missed in the clubhouse and on the field.

In a corresponding move, catcher Dalton Rushing, the Dodgers’ top prospect, was called up. He is set to make his MLB debut behind home plate on Thursday, according to manager Dave Roberts.
