The Los Angeles Dodgers were blanked by the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-0, on Friday evening to begin the first of a three-game set in Missouri with a loss. The Dodgers fell to 38-26 on the year.
Ahead of the contest, L.A. re-signed a relief pitcher who was recently designated for assignment. He joined the team in St. Louis and later allowed a solo shot in his one inning of service.
It wasn’t the only roster move of the day as the Dodgers also recalled a southpaw from Triple-A, while optioning a right-hander down to OKC. The southpaw got the ball to start the game and was charged with the loss after six innings of work.
