Dodgers Notes: Andrew Friedman’s Role With Lakers, LA Doesn’t Want Japanese Stars to Pitch in WBC

The Los Angeles Lakers placed Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball Andrew Friedman into an advisory role Friday, and ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne revealed the executive’s job.

“Friedman, the president of baseball operations with the Dodgers, has played a lesser role. He mostly consults with Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka, sources said,” Shelburne wrote. “Friedman has helped the Dodgers win three of the past six World Series.

The Dodgers have earned a long rest after their World Series win, and will return to baseball activity in March. The 2025 World Baseball Classic is also in March, but the Dodgers don’t want their Japanese stars, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki and Shohei Ohtani, pitching in the tournament.
