Dodgers News: Max Muncy Appears to Have Ditched the Step-Back in His Swing

Last year, Dodgers infielder Max Muncy started the season terribly, batting .160 with a .598 OPS through the team’s first 72 games as he battled the effects of the gruesome elbow injury he suffered at the end of the 2021 regular season. On a road trip to Colorado, Muncy was inspired by the batting approach of former Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, and he experimented with a “step-back,” where he would take a small step back with his left (back) foot as he loaded for his swing.
