Dodgers News: LA Reportedly Calling Up RHP Kyle Hurt to Bolster Bullpen

The Dodgers made a surprising move on Tuesday, calling up RHP Kyle Hurt from Triple-A, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Hurt, 25, has been dominant across Double-A and Triple-A this season, sporting a 3.87 ERA with an incredible 145 strikeouts in 88.1 innings pitched. That strikeout rate leads the minor leagues.

Hurt is going to work out of the bullpen, and the Dodgers will see what they have in the 25-year-old out of USC. If he has a strong couple weeks and shows off his swing-and-miss stuff, he could factor into the postseason bullpen.

Hurt was a fifth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins, and was acquired alongside LHP Alex Vesia in 2021 for RHP Dylan Floro.
