It was a shocker when Clayton Kershaw was scratched ahead of his opening night start for the Dodgers. The report, a back issue suffered days before could not get well enough in time to face the Giants.
Manager Dave Roberts said he felt good and was in good spirits while handing the ball to rookie right-hander Dustin May in Kershaw’s stead. On Friday, Clayton updated the media on a conference call.
I felt so good going into the season. The timing couldn’t be worse… it’s defeating.
Perhaps in less good spirits today.
