The Los Angeles Dodgers today named their Branch Rickey Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year, giving the awards to infielder Gavin Lux and right-hander Tony Gonsolin, respectively.
Both players began the year with the Dodgers single-A affiliate, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, with both subsequently promoted to the double-A Tulsa Drillers.
Lux was selected by the Dodgers with their first-round draft pick in 2016, the 20th pick overall, after graduating from Indian Trails High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Gonsolin was acquired in the same draft, in the ninth round, 281st overall, out of St.
