The Los Angeles Dodgers will meet with right-hander Roki Sasaki this week to discuss what his potential role will be this October.
The 23-year-old Sasaki hasn’t pitched since May due to shoulder complications, and in the first eight appearances of his MLB career, was far from the highly-touted prospect that was promised. He totaled a 4.72 ERA across his 34.1 innings of work, throwing 24 strikeouts to 22 walks.
As Sasaki has ramped up his production during his rehab outings, including his improved velocity of a 98.6 mph average fastball during his most recent start, the idea of placing him in the bullpen has certainly come up.
