The injury to Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy on Wednesday night was truly a scary scene.
On a steal attempt from Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor, Muncy (in very athletic form) leapt up to haul in a Will Smith throw. As he came down to make the tag on Taylor, the runner slid head first into Muncy’s leg causing it to move in an unnatural way.
Muncy crumpled to the ground immediately clutching his knee, and was ultimately helped off the field.
The injury somewhat put a damper on Clayton Kershaw’s monumental achievement in earning his 3,000th career strikeout.
