The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Julian Fernandez for assignment earlier this week to make room for Buddy Kennedy on the roster. On Sunday, the Washington Nationals claimed the right-hander on waivers.
Fernandez made one appearance for the Dodgers this season, allowing two earned runs in two innings of work. The right-hander produced a 3.05 ERA across 41.1 innings pitched in 35 appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
Fernandez joined the Dodgers on a minor league contract last offseason.
