The Los Angeles Dodgers have brought minor league catcher Ben Rortvedt to Pittsburgh as the team awaits a decision on Will Smith.

Smith left Wednesday’s game in the top of the third inning after a foul ball hit him in the right hand in the bottom of the second. He was diagnosed with a right hand contusion, and X-rays came back negative. He is out of the lineup for Thursday’s series finale.
The Dodgers are continuing to evaluate Smith before deciding whether or not to place him on the IL.
