The Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday announced the signing of free-agent outfielder A.J. Pollock to a four-year contract with a player option for an additional year.

Although the Dodgers still have a surplus of outfielders after trading Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp to the Reds in December, the 31-year-old Pollock solves the club's need for a right-handed bat and gives it even more flexibility in the field, allowing Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger to be used in the infield more often, if needed.
