The Los Angeles Dodgers shook up the baseball world Tuesday morning, signing one of MLB’s best closers in All-Star right-hander Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million contract.

Diaz, 31, has recorded 20 or more saves in every MLB season since 2017 bar the shortened 2020 season and has a career ERA of 2.82. In 2025, he posted a 1.63 ERA and converted 28 of his 31 save opportunities while striking out 98 batters in 66.1 innings.

The Dodgers desperately needed a high-leverage reliever following the 2025 season, where their four-year signing of Tanner Scott didn’t go according to plan.
