Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Provides Unfortunate Timeline for Tommy Edman Return

Tommy Edman exited the Los Angeles Dodgers’ series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth inning after sustaining an ankle injury while running to first base.

Edman had been playing through a lingering ankle injury since May, and unfortunately tweaked it again against the Rays.

The Dodgers were considering placing Edman and utility man Hyeseong Kim on the injured list at the end of July. Los Angeles called up Alex Freeland as a backup option and ultimately decided to only place Kim on the IL.

After exiting the game early on Sunday, Edman was diagnosed with a sprained ankle.
