NEW YORK >> Somewhere in Louisiana, Ron Guidry must be thinking about coming out of retirement.
“Please, no,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said to that comic possibility, uncomfortable at the thought of even a 66-year-old left-hander facing his team right now.
The Dodgers’ offensive struggles against left-handed pitching continued Tuesday night as CC Sabathia – 36, not 66, but still just a shadow (albeit, a large one) of his former Cy Young self – tamed the Dodgers, holding them scoreless into the seventh inning of a 3-0 New York Yankees victory.
Scoreless for most of the night, the game was decided when Jacoby Ellsbury and Didi Gregorius hit back-to-back home runs off Dodgers reliever Ross Stripling in the bottom of the seventh.
