Coming off of back-to-back series sweeps over the Giants and Cubs, the last thing anyone expected was a series loss for the Dodgers. Especially since they were playing the Pirates, a team with almost no expectations to compete this season.
But the Dodgers came into Pittsburgh on Wednesday morning with a chance to take the series. Ryan Pepiot made his big league debut and went 3 strong innings. He walked 5 batters but punched out 3 and allowed just 1 hit in the process. It was about as good as you could ask from a guy making a last-minute debut.
