Dodgers' Brett Anderson finishes strong in win over Giants, makes case to be playoff starter

SAN FRANCISCO – Between farewell performances by Tim Hudson and Jeremy Affeldt and the between-innings filming of scenes for a revived “Full House” sit-com, it had the feel of an Old-Timers Day at AT&T Park on Thursday.

But Dodgers left-hander Brett Anderson had reason to take his final regular-season start seriously. With a 6.04 ERA in his previous five starts, Anderson’s hold on the No. 3 starter’s spot in the upcoming best-of-five NL Division Series against the New York Mets might have become something less than firm.

Anderson regained his form Thursday afternoon, throwing seven scoreless innings as the Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 3-2.
