LOS ANGELES — A testament to the adage that you can never have enough outfield depth, the Dodgers on Wednesday acquired Brett Eibner from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor league infielder Jordan Tarsovich.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated pitcher Carlos Frias for assignment. The right-hander was sidelined the final three months of 2016 with a strained right oblique.
Eibner joins a crowded pack of outfielders on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, along with Andre Ethier, Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, Darin Ruf, Scott Van Slyke, Trayce Thompson and Andrew Toles, plus utility man Kiké Hernandez.
