The Los Angeles Dodgers mustered just five hits in their first two games against the San Diego Padres during this current series, resulting in two total runs scored and now sitting at second place in the NL West.
Manager Dave Roberts, knowing that his team has the demonstrated skill to slug baseballs all over the field, saw something in what the Friars do that he wants to see his own players replicate.
“You saw (Friday) night with Manny (Machado), guy in scoring position, he shortens up and lines the ball to center field,” Roberts said.
