For most of Dave Roberts’ tenure as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chris Taylor was one of his players. On Sunday, the Dodgers released Taylor in order to make room for Tommy Edman on the roster as he returned from the injured list.

Roberts reacted to the surprise news, talking about both Taylor’s dismissal as well as Austin Barnes’, the two longest-tenured position players for L.A.
“Obviously those two guys were very good Dodgers, very well-liked,” Roberts said. “Obviously we’re in a tight race.
