Corey Seager to undergo arthroscopic hip surgery Tuesday

The Dodgers on Monday announced that shortstop Corey Seager will undergo arthroscopic hip surgery Tuesday in New York. The surgery, performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly, will be a labrum repair for what has been bothering Seager since he tweaked it in the field at the end of April.

This will be the second surgery in the last three months, after the 24-year-old went under the knife for Tommy John surgery back in May. Seager is expected to resume baseball activities at some point in January.

The Dodgers expect nothing to change in the timeline for Seager’s recovery from the first operation and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he could be ready to go on Opening Day next season.
