The new name for the small strip of Elysian Park Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Stadium Way was a long time in the making. In the end, the Los Angeles City Council quickly and unanimously passed a formal motion Friday to rename the street after the 88-year-old broadcaster.
Councilman Gilbert Cedillo, who introduced the motion, said the name change could become official in 30 days per city law.
“We have a community outreach requirement,” Cedillo said. “We’ll start today to see if the neighbors have input.
