HOUSTON >> Everything seemed a little bit off about Chase Utley’s debut game with the Dodgers.
The Philadelphia Phillies’ second baseman for the last 12-plus seasons, Utley was the Dodgers’ designated hitter in an American League park that began its existence as a National League park.
Utley spoke longingly about growing up in Long Beach and watching his favorite Dodgers, Brett Butler and Steve Sax and Kirk Gibson, and attending Game 2 of the 1988 World Series. The poetic thing to do would be for Utley to make his debut at Dodger Stadium, but the Dodgers don’t play at home for another week.
