Brewers’ Yasmani Grandal Was ‘Prepared’ For Minimal Contact, Lack Of Competitive Contract Offer From Dodgers During MLB Free Agency

After being acquired from the San Diego Padres, Yasmani Grandal developed into one of the best catchers in all of baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers over the last four years.

Grandal reached free agency last winter, and after turning down the qualifying offer from the Dodgers, he wound up signing a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

He reportedly rejected a four-year, $60 million offer from the New York Mets, but other than that, did not appear to receive any competitive long-term offers.

While it is unclear what, if any, contact the Dodgers had with Grandal he turned down their qualifying offer, he saw the writing on the wall and was not expecting much to come of possible negotiations to remain with the team, via Mike DiGiovanna of the L.
