Brett Anderson can't pick up win, but Dodgers pull away to beat Giants 8-3

A few hours after the Dodgers found out they would be without Brandon McCarthy in the starting rotation for the rest of the season, Brett Anderson wasn’t much of a pick-me-up bouquet.

The left-handed pitcher might have been gliding through a two-hit shutout after getting the first two outs in the fifth inning, but he didn’t stick around long enough to get credit for the win in the Dodgers’ eventual 8-3 victory over San Francisco on Monday night, the team’s eighth straight home triumph.

After surrendering two walks, a scratch single by Nori Aoki and a booming double to right by Joe Panik to bring in two Giants runs, Anderson may have been frustrated, but he didn’t even argue much with Don Mattingly when the manager made the slow walk to the mound to eventually bring in Carlos Frias.
