LOS ANGELES – Carl Crawford couldn’t cough without pain Tuesday morning. The left fielder tore his right oblique on a second-inning swing Monday night and will head to the disabled list for an extended period.
“It’s pretty bad,” Crawford said. “I tore it pretty good.”
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly wouldn’t speculate as to a potential timeline for his return, but it seems like a month might be a fair baseline. Crawford missed 30 games in 2013, 129 in 2012 and 24 in 2011, the shorter stints both being brought on by muscle tears.
“I know it’s like a broken record for me, going back to the DL,” Crawford said.
