Dodgers Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Hesitant To Part With Top Prospects For Cole Hamels

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been leading the charge to land Phillies ace Cole Hamels before the trade deadline, but their hesitancy to give up their top prospects as kept a deal from being done already.

Multiple reports have indicated that the Dodgers won’t trade Corey Seager or Julio Urias, but Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com reports that Los Angeles is also reluctant to part with either right-hander Jose De Leon or catcher Austin Barnes.

Phillies president-in-waiting Andy MacPhail was called a “cautious, prudent trader” by a fellow NL GM, who also noted that unlike Jeff Samardzija, Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, Ian Kennedy, and Scott Kazmir, Hamels doesn’t have to be traded right now because he's not in the last year of his contract.

In order for the Dodgers to land Hamels, they'll have to give up either De Leon or Barnes.
