Dodgers News: Yaisel Puig Benched For Tonight's Game After Showing Up Late To The Stadium

Dodgers outfielder Yaisel Puig has been benched for tonight's home opener against the San Francisco Giants after showing up late to batting practice.

Matt Kemp will take Puig's spot in the lineup, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, who was the first to report that Puig had been pulled. Kemp will play in center field, and Andre Ethier will slide over to take Puig's spot out right.

Puig, 23, is batting 5-20 (.250) through five games this season. He hit .319/.391/.534 (160 OPS+) with 19 homers last year, finishing second in NL Rookie Of The Year voting.
