3 Players The Los Angeles Dodgers Could Sign This Offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers came up just short in the World Series this year, and they go into the offseason looking to add a piece or two to put them over the hump. LA has been linked to several players via trade - namely Giancarlo Stanton - and want to save money in order to splurge on the stellar free agency class next winter, but still plan to sign a key free agent or two in the coming months. The Dodgers will target a few their own free agents, but here are three players from other teams they could chase:

1) Shohei Otani, RHP/DH, Japan

Japanese star Shohei Otani is making the transition to the MLB this offseason and is one of the biggest prizes available. Scouts believe that the 23-year-old will be a star as either an everyday position player or as a pitcher. He is 41-15 with a 2.56 ERA in his career as a pitcher, but also has a .332/.403/.540 batting line with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in 65 games. The Dodgers are one of the teams that hold the biggest international allotments this offseason, meaning they can offer him as much money as anyone else. Expect them to do just that.

2) J.D. Martinez, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks

Los Angeles is looking to add a right-handed bat to their lineup, and that will lead them to Martinez, who hit 45 home runs with 104 RBIs while batting .303 from the plate this season. Justin Turner is the only reliable right-handed bat they have in their lineup - Yasiel Puig can be inconsistent - so while Martinez won't come cheap, he's someone the Dodgers will look at.

3) Lorenzo Cain, OF, Kansas City Royals

The Dodgers won't sign both Martinez and Cain, but Cain is the slightly cheaper right-handed bat available on the open market. However, his defense is his biggest selling point. Cain can play anywhere in the outfield but is an absolute stud in center field. Signing him would allow Chris Taylor to move back into the infield.
