CHICAGO – Whenever Ralph Lawler and Bob Miller saw each other in recent years, the two legendary Los Angeles broadcasters always posed the same question to one another: “How much longer are you going to do this?”
Chick Hearn retired when he was 85, and Vin Scully, then 88, signed off from his final Dodgers broadcast at the end of last season. Scully’s retirement left Lawler, the Clippers play-by-play since 1985, and Miller, his hockey counterpart, as the remaining voices of a bygone era.
