Austin Rivers‘ deal angered some Los Angeles Clippers fans. Three years for $35.7 million prompted many to go with the whole, “he’s only getting paid because of his Dad!” argument. Even though the two don’t have a typical father-bond, instead keeping their relationship strictly professional with the Clippers, many say the younger Rivers received such a large deal because of his family connections, rather than the increased market and the necessity to keep him for a lack of cap space and better options.
Regardless of your take on the Clippers’ backup point guard, Austin Rivers is staying and he’ll be contributing.
