Let’s face it. A lot of NBA fans don’t like Austin Rivers. Not that they’re right, but many claim nepotism is the only reason he’s in the league. They’re wrong. Last night, during the Clippers’ win over the Mavericks, ESPN’s announcers shared the sentiment. Austin is a solid role player and would fit with almost every team in the NBA.
Rivers started the year coming off the bench, after Doc Rivers decided that starting newly acquired Milos Teodosic made more sense. Teodosic’s offensive abilities complement Patrick Beverley’s defensive abilities in the first unit. Austin and Lou Williams were supposed to provide a spark off the bench.
